Semoga bermanfaat. > Biografi Singkat Imam Ibnu Katsir Nama lengkapnya adalah Abul Fida', Imaduddin Ismail bin Umar bin Katsir al-Qurasyi al-Bushrawi ad-Dimasyqi, lebih dikenal dengan nama Ibnu Katsir. Beliau lahir pada tahun 701 H di sebuah desa yang menjadi bagian dari kota Bashra di negeri Syam.
Pada usia 4 tahun, ayah beliau meninggal sehingga kemudian Ibnu Katsir diasuh oleh pamannya. Pada tahun 706 Hijriah, beliau pindah dan menetap di kota Damaskus. Ibnu Katsir tumbuh besar di kota Damaskus. Di sana, beliau banyak menimba ilmu dari para ulama di kota tersebut, salah satunya adalah Syaikh Burhanuddin Ibrahim al-Fazari. Beliau juga menimba ilmu dari Isa bin Muth'im, Ibn Asyakir, Ibn Syairazi, Ishaq bin Yahya bin al-Amidi, Ibn Zarrad, al-Hafizh adz-Dzahabi serta Syaikhul Islam Ibnu Taimiyah. Selain itu, beliau juga belajar kepada Syaikh Jamaluddin Yusuf bin Zaki al-Mizzi, salah seorang ahli hadits di Syam.
